• Led UX Foundations, a cross-platform engineering group comprised of 20+ engineers across iOS, Android, web, and backend, as well as 3 engineering managers.
• Collaborated closely with cross-functional peers in product, design, project management, and the newsroom, on roadmap, objectives, and key results. Advocated to advance the goals of engineering, and determined priorities and tradeoffs.
• Setup a hiring pipeline to fill necessary engineering roles, and successfully filled roles with diverse candidates, within budget constraints. Delegated hiring responsibilities to engineering managers, and supervised and approved their decisions around interview panel selection and candidate offers.
• Regularly discussed career progression with both engineering managers and individual engineers through 1on1s, skip levels, half-year and end-of-year evaluations. Successfully promoted several of them as a result.

• Led all aspects of Apple technology platform development: iHeartRadio for iOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS. Shaped technical architecture and formulated engineering priorities. Managed sprint commitments, release schedule, testing and build automation, stability, crash-free rates, and user experience. My team’s commitment to quality resulted in a 4.8+ star rating on the App Store.
• Managed and coached a total of 8 iOS engineers, ranging from junior to senior levels, in sharpening their technical skills, as well as management, inter-personal, and communication skills. Developed and moderated a book club to learn about these various areas. This coaching and mentorship resulted in the promotion of several engineers to higher positions, as well as one engineer to a management position on the team, with their own reports.
• Implemented a diversity initiative for hiring new engineers, and interviewed candidates from many categories of underrepresented individuals in engineering. After an intense year of candidate evaluations, we assembled a team that was highly diverse in gender, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.
• Motivated engineers to become involved with local iOS meetups, resulting in iHeartRadio hosting iOSoho in November 2018. An engineer from my team prepared a technical talk with my guidance and assistance, and delivered it at this event.
• Led the implementation and maintenance of metrics to identify problematic playback areas, which drove a 20% reduction in HLS start latency.

• Served as Tech Lead on two projects for the development of an All-Access subscription initiative on iHeartRadio for iOS: playlists, and offline access. Led development of architecture across these two teams to implement feature set on frontend, and collaborated on backend APIs. iHeartRadio All-Access launched in January 2017 and acquired 500k+ subscribers in the first year.
• Served as Tech Lead of iHeart Family app on iOS, leading the implementation of a SpriteKit experience geared towards children. Full featured MVP and product demo led to a $2 million sponsor contract for launch of the app, with configurable wallpapers, advertisements, and a programmatic radio station customized for the sponsor.
• Trained, coached, and mentored three junior and mid-level engineers to become independent contributors, positioning them towards acquiring promotions and raises.

Developed and maintained client-facing financial data software. Built database update systems and maintained middleware servers to access those databases. Worked closely with data vendors to collect requirements and implement enhancements to database updates and data servers. Migrated entire database systems and their respective middleware servers across operating systems and database platforms to improve speed and performance. Selected projects include…
• Price Database Server: Developed and enhanced main pricing server to access central pricing database. Served both internal and external clients who needed access to marking pricing data. Engineered in a Linux/C++ environment.
– Implemented enhancement to fix unnecessary data lookups and eliminate data fetch redundancies; improved average ticker lookup speed by 10%.
– Corrected dividend calculation algorithm to match clients’ manual spreadsheet calculations; client decided to maintain software license and not switch to another provider.
• NextGen: Migrated existing database systems and middleware from a VMS/DCL platform to Linux/bash/Perl.
– Translated DCL to a combination of bash/Perl, and updated C++ code to work in Linux environment; improved database update system speed by over 15%.
