GFA Workflow is a web based application built originally to streamline the Fund Accounting process and to reduce the risks by moving the NAV checks, by analyzing transactions and holdings for all mutual funds serviced by BNYM and compute NAV that are usually performed during a small window at the EOD (called as the Golden Hour) earlier in the day to catch potential issues before market cut off. It is a low latent java-based application utilizing a lot of Spring Cloud functionalities and Hazelcast in-memory distributed data grid for caching. It is carefully designed using micro services architecture with 15 services deployed on BNYMs private cloud with over 120 instances.

Digital Transaction Engine is a one stop repair stop in BNYM’s custody business. DTE’s business objective is to capture securities and cash trades sent by BNYMs clients or internal ops for clearing and settlements. DTE captures trades from various input formats like spreadsheets, SWIFT and faxes that are OCR’ed (Optical Character Recognition). Captured trades are then validated, auto repaired or manually repaired through workflow and then routed to market for settlements.

Worked as a Senior Java/J2EE consultant in various banks on wall street. It was fun, intense, fast paced agile environments especially in the Investment banks. Some teams were very technical and some not so much. Learned to strike a balance between technology and business requirements. Learned the value of going to production quickly with a minimal viable product. Working as a consultant gave me immense exposure to a broad range of applications, teams and processes. Bank Of America: Designed a portal dashboard for the compliance team which provided compliance alert services for various compliance and non compliance groups in the organization.

Goldman Sachs: Worked for the reference data system team that has the capability to query for various services like product, data, synonym, intraday, intradayProd and intradayData. These services provide various prices for various instruments over a period of day like opening price, intraday price and closing price. The data is sourced from various upstream systems as a part of nightly run autosys jobs, and loading the data in the cache for faster turnaround time for the users of the system.

Fidelity - Capital Markets: Fidelity Prime Services portal has the capabilities to query positions, transactions, and tax lots data. A Query Tool Framework was developed to pull all the data and present it to Operations. It involved gathering from various data sources and maintaining it in memory database cache (HSQL) and executing queries depending on the user preferences. The tool followed a database configuration driven model for gathering and managing the data.

Citi - Citi Connect for Securities (CCfS) is a front office application for Securities trading which offers an integrated online platform for Equities trade Execution, Fund Order Execution and Settlement. The message passes through the whole life cycle of a trade right from new order to executions to fills and finally to settlement. The trade orders are received as FIX/SWIFT/XML messages from various sources like El Trader Fix Engines/Swift Message Queues/Files (xml/comma delimited/fixed width)/Faxes and Emails. These trades are further validated, persisted, enriched and routed to the appropriate destination using various routing mechanisms.

Lehman Brothers: Operations dashboard is a portal application providing dashboard services for various operations and groups in the organization. It is architectured to support displaying of equity trade data from the various data sources like database, ftp, etc in various graphical formats like charts, graphs, grid, etc based on pure configurations. In addition the displayed data can be extracted and exported to various formats like excel application, plain text email, html email and also can be uploaded onto an ftp server.
