Network Dynamics and Simulation Science Laboratory (NDSSL)
NDSSL is pursuing advanced research and development program for interaction-based modelling, simulation and associated analysis, experimental design, and decision support tools for understanding large biological, information, social and technological systems.
Role: - Developing the tool for construction of synthetic population. A synthetic population is constructed data set representing the real population of a region that would be studied in simulation. It is integral to work in epidemics, communication and a host of other large-scale simulation models capturing what we call multi-network socio-technical systems. Each member of the synthetic population is usually assigned a residence location, and this is done to make the synthetic locations closely match actual locations. Currently NAVTEQ road data is used to locate housing across the roads, however NAVTEQ data is expensive so we’re constructing new tool which will use Open Street Map (OSM) data.
