Infrastructure Platform — Observability

• Built an in house SLO framework to track availability and latency across the entire engineering org. Led a team of 8 engineers

• Shipped the next generation metrics platform scaling to 60M timeseries/s to support mission critical dashboards and alerting. Owned metrics collection infra

• Designed and led the build out of a real time streaming system with Kafka and Flink to capture and aggregate per endpoint latencies and top line business metrics

• SME for batch/ETL infra, data warehousing, and analytics for observability data

• Shipped distributed tracing to provide visibility into critical user journeys and help teams find bottlenecks quickly, reducing MTTR

Cloud Common Services group

Authentication & Authorization

Served as co-lead and individual contributor for our common cloud auth team. Worked on building and scaling microservices built around authorization servers to support multi-tenant auth for the Guidewire Cloud Platform. Collaborated with various product development teams and customers to design and support auth needs. Technologies include Spring Boot, DynamoDB, OAuth2, OIDC, SAML2, and Okta.

Platform Infrastructure - Observability Team

Built and scaled the observability stack supporting Kubernetes-based workloads for Guidewire Cloud. Worked heavily with AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes to provide tooling around Monitoring & Metrics (Prometheus & Grafana), Distributed Tracing (Zipkin), Alerting (Alert Manager, PagerDuty, Slack) and Logging (FluentD/FluentBit, SumoLogic) to our product engineering teams.

Developer Experience Team

Built dev tools to bootstrap dozens of production-ready, cloud native microservices. Includes CI/CD, authentication/authorization, and observability out of the box. Technologies include Javascript, Java, Spring Boot, Golang, Kubernetes, AWS

Scaled user authentication backend services to handle hundreds of millions of requests with high availability.

Served as an engineering team lead for a critical User Management dashboard within Predix APM, an industrial IOT platform.

Rewrote a legacy application in React, breaking ground with modern frontend technologies in the organization.

I worked with PMs and designers and a led a team of 4 engineers to translate a vision into a working MVP in 6 months.

Traveled internationally to support the deployment of security services for Predix Private Cloud.

Improved internal productivity of operations and engineering departments through development of various internal, infrastructure-related software.

Project: Designed and developed a revamp of CertAlert, a full-stack application that discovers and monitors SSL certificates across infrastructure. It alerts teams as SSL certificates come closer to expiration, and provides a dashboard for general management. CertAlert consists of a dashboard in HTML/CSS/JS, a backend REST API using PHP/MySQL, and automated jobs for discovery/notification in Bash.
