• Technical leader responsible for the policy platform – the services used to write security policy and deliver those policies across Illumio’s product portfolio, with 3,500,000+ workloads under management globally.

o Created touchpoints and institutionalized a cadence of team meetings and 1-1s to maintain cohesion.

o Developed processes for escalation handling, design review, and code review as the team scaled.

o Established engineering best practices and ensured they were broadly communicated.

o Implemented tooling for support and engineering to increase leverage and reduce toil.

• Engineering owner for scaling policy delivery from 25,000 servers to 350,000 mixed servers/endpoints.

o Collaborated with product/engineering management to build the first iteration of endpoint policy.

o Defined architectural vision and designed decomposition of datastores to enable horizontal scaling.

• Worked closely with strategic accounts, including some of the world’s largest banks and SaaS companies.

o Drove delivery of critical features, from requirements-gathering to implementation, helping to secure >$15 million in new business, renewals, and expansions.

o Go-to engineer for P1 issues and outages related to policy delivery and application availability in some of the most regulated computing environments in the world, such as the US SWIFT backbone.

o Delivered a feature enabling a reduction in network flow volume, saving >$1,000/day on storage.

o Designed and implemented eventually consistent policy delivery to remove locks from critical paths and increase policy throughput 300%, reducing customer-observed convergence times by 67%.

• Drove cross-engineering observability initiative to reduce support costs and improve MTTR.

• Built APIs in a distributed system using Ruby, Redis, PostgreSQL, HAProxy.

• Traveled to Slovakia to bootstrap a redesign of our k8s security solution.
