* Visual Automation for Inventory Fulfillment (2016 to present)

I lead a new initiative to automate repetitive operations at warehouses. I built and globally launched Computer Vision inventory sensing software system utilizing convolutional neural networks and machine-learning. Thereby reducing a significant part of manual inventory check work at Amazon warehouses worldwide.

* Amazon Appstore Developer Experience (2012 - 2016)

I led the Developer Experience team for Amazon's Appstore. Launched a public API for 3P developers to programmatically submit and manage their apps - this enabled 3P developers to integrate with their build management systems and provide rapid app version updates. This API enabled significant incremental new app additions for Appstore. Redesigned the payments workflow improving the payments failure rate from 1.5% to 0.1%. Evolved the purpose-built developer website into a flexible multi-tenant CMS stack; this enabled developer website updates from multiple internal content teams.

I led the Kindle paper-to-ebook conversion team - we scan paper books and convert them to structured marked-up ebooks. Created a WYSIWYG ebook editor. Once paper scans are machine-converted to ebooks, this tool enables ebooks to be hand-edited to correct errors. Improved image processing and ebook conversion algorithms, and achieved a doubling in yield rate, enabling more titles. Created features for conversion of Japanese and Chinese language titles to ebooks. I made platform-wide customer experience improvements such as using a greater variety of page layouts and improved anti-aliasing.

I led delivery management of the Configuration and Gensym teams. Launched the ability to embed sales workflows in 3P systems and scaled the configuration engines with multiple processor cores. Led geographically distributed teams and optimized for remote collaboration, including virtualized development environments, automated reporting and testing on the cloud. Defined and tracked business goals working with customers’ business leaders.
