Started on Xbox Kinect with Windows Hello, quickly landed in the Mixed Reality world. Much of my time was focussed on the relatively unexplored space of interaction mechanics and UI within XR.
From 2016-2019 I worked on Microsoft Layout (linked below) - a mixed reality application that allows users to edit room-layouts in real-world scale - either on HoloLens or VR headsets. I joined the team in the pre-production prototyping phase, and saw it through to post-launch. I worked primarily on interacting with models (rotate, duplicate, select, etc) and the UI (all menus in the application).
Previously I worked on the Mixed Reality Developer Platform team, making developer's lives easier as they learned to build HoloLens apps.
Working on the Mixed Reality platform gave me lots of opportunities to interact closely with customers and react quickly to feedback, and I gained experience with perf/power testing, the Windows Device Portal (I wrote the File Explorer, so that devs could upload/download files for the first few years where the HoloLens could not be mounted as a device), and handling large amounts of telemetry data.
