Seattle, Washington, United States
Product Design Engineer supporting all VR and MR products (Controllers and Headsets) during their production lifetimes.
• Responsible for delivering 12-20 (yearly average) PD focused Post Ramp Qualification (PRQ) projects across all Controllers and VR Headsets. Projects cover plastics, lubricants, flex PCA’s, optics, etc.
• Lead teams of junior PD engineers during product transition to mass production to complete remaining PD and Reliability issues affecting quality. 100% growth in successful resolved issues with each new product generation.
• Work cross functionally with Asia based Contract Manufacturing teams (SQE, Mfg, Materials, Global Supply Mngrs., Operation Product Mngrs., Quality Engineers, etc.) to support PRQ builds.
• Designed, implemented, and qualified cost reduction opportunities resulting in $10-15M in savings. Partnered with Sensor Eng to qualify new low cost Hall Effect sensor. Scaled learnings to next generation VR Headset, Quest 3S, for further savings.
• Conduct and lead “lessons learned” sessions and demos with NPI PD teams working on next generation products to improve product quality, reliability and cost.
• Performed Statistical analysis of process capabilities (CPK, CP, etc.) using JMP software on head strap plastics for two suppliers. Raised CPK values of critical dimensions from below 1.33 to above 5.0 across the board without affecting part performance.
