Implemented and administrated a production deployment of self-hosted Retool, migrated and redesigned a cluster of k8s-based gitlab runners, day to day admin and maintenance of a large GKE k8s deployment including lots of troubleshooting and cost management, early Claude Code adopter involved in determining best practices and necessary tooling during its org-wide rollout. Gained experience with healthcare-related security, privacy, and compliance concerns.

Joined a platform engineering team as an IC and worked to address pain points and improve performance across a hybrid k8s/serverless architecture. Worked with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, and related services, while also helping to troubleshoot old, outdated Node.js and Typescript code to find solutions to persistent issues.

Hired to help rebuild and re-architect a large-scale e-commerce deployment to bring it more in line with the company's post-IPO needs. Working on tuning and disaster recovery for PostgreSQL and Apache Kafka clusters, an end-to-end CI/CD system featuring Jenkins pipelines and Kubernetes, and helping various teams of developers and stakeholders to make the best use of the many platforms and tools that we use.

Hired to start an in-house DevOps team for an established e-commerce startup. Took over maintenance and management of a large ansible-based AWS deployment. Worked with an outside consultancy to refine existing systems and start a transition to Docker and Kubernetes. Extensively worked with in-house security team to harden infrastructure and work to mitigate ongoing persistent threats. Oversaw hiring, ran sprint planning, and interfaced with a number of outside vendors.
