As a mechanical designer at Sazan, I collaborate with senior mechanical engineers to design and optimize mechanical/HVAC systems for variable occupancy industrial facilities, high tech office spaces, data centers, multi-storied hotels, and residential spaces. I work with a diverse team of several electrical engineers, plumbing designers and project managers for system design, equipment selection, and specifications. While the 2D and 3D system design is mostly done using software like AutoCAD MEP and Autodesk Revit, I also perform energy modeling using Trane Trace. The design also includes sizing of complex components like cooling towers, heat pumps, exhaust fans, boilers and fan terminal units, to name a few.

AMRI is a nationally recognized research facility that conducts extensive research on Materials Science and Nanotechnology. After receiving a competitive state-wide research grant, I started working in AMRI with a research team on a project focused on Additive Manufacturing Technology and Fused Deposition Modeling. As a part of the project I designed and 3D-printed prototype of the multi-functional metal-polymer composite test structures. I was also responsible for performing tensile, thermal, and antimicrobial tests and eventually performing data analysis and understanding the failure mechanism of the test structures under high amount of stress and strain. The composite structures were found to have enhanced mechanical and anti-microbial properties as compared to conventional polymer structures. The peak mechanical strength of the composite samples was enhanced by nearly 30%, while the anti-microbial properties were increased by nearly 50%. Due to notable results obtained, my research work was recognized at the annual InnovateUNO conference held at University of New Orleans.
