API / platform engineering

⦿ projects/responsibilities:

• lead scalability re-design of high impact tracking service to reduce load stemming from data-store space/storage constraints and increasing write throughput (proposal, dataflow diagram, data modeling, schema design, and initial implementation)

• aided migration from MySQL to Cassandra in the events service that powers web-hooks (notifications) for our consumers to handle higher write throughput -- primary author of an abstraction that exposes an interface wrapping the lower-level storage driver and a query-builder

• steward and maintainer of our APIs (primarily the monolith/gateway)

• partial contributor to database sharding initiatives for scale - projects in Ruby (SDK), Python (data migrations), Rust and Golang (Snowflake ID/quasi-sequential ID generator)

API / backend engineering

⦿ projects/responsibilities

• (RESTful) API design for two (internal) consumers/clients: 1) ReactJS web client (recruiters) and 2) data services

• architected an automated email dispatch system backed by PostgreSQL. Led a small off-shore team to implement various application components and migrations. I authored approximately 20% of the system, but reviewed all of the code, and guided the entire project paving way for an estimated time savings of 1.5 hours of manual sends and replies for its users daily

Full-stack product-engineering with an emphasis on API client development in Elixir (Erlang VM/BEAM) and the Phoenix Framework. I joined the company when it was a small team working on a mono-Rails application pre- and post-SOA (service-oriented architecture).

⦿ notable projects and responsibilities

• open-source: Elixir Slime templates, Prismic.io Elixir SDK/client, New Relixir (New Relic SDK)

• e-commerce product listing page, product member pages, search and filter features built atop Elasticsearch

• third-party integrations with Salesforce, Segment, Snowplow Analytics, and many more

• RDBMSes : MySQL and PostgreSQL - some query optimization, primarily removing N+1 queries associated with Rails' ActiveRecord ORM

• NoSQL : Redis and Erlang Term Storage (ETS)
