Google Search - Serving Infrastructure

Work within small, highly senior-level team to optimize capacity while improving or maintaining Search ROI.

(Acquired Algorithmia, my previous startup.) Led team (16 FTEs, 3 sub-teams) with Dir of Eng to integrate Algorithmia’s IP into DataRobot platform.

(Acquired by DataRobot.) Promoted to Senior Software Engineer - Technical Lead for a team of 6 engineers after consistent successful delivery:

• Serve on engineering-wide system architecture & system design review board. Mentor, guide, and provide feedback on many high-level designs while ensuring they meet our architectural principles

• Drive clarity and provide feedback on product design documents in the early ideation and design phase before they reach our engineering teams

• Advise, mentor, and sponsor engineer leads on multiple high impact projects: Advanced Governance Reporting, Secret Store, and our unified platform logging architecture

• Hold regular 1:1s with my immediate team, EM, skip-level VP, and principal engineers to solicit feedback and implement improvements to our team processes (planning, prioritization, CI/CD, etc.)

• Start to clarify and advise on technical strategy with skip-level VP of engineering around when, why, and how we should choose to leverage cloud providers vs. building in-house

• Champion improvements to platform observability (metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerts)

• Write, demo, and evangelize POC for automatic, implicit tracing instrumentation of Scala/Play code across services and Future boundaries; eliminating a blocker to our adoption of tracing in the platform
