Backend / Data Engineer at Personalization Platform

Responsible for architecting and building scalable and distributed high performance compute and data pipelines in batch and streaming used to power personalized recommendations on features such as Discover Weekly, Home, Search or Talk. Working closely with AI in an effort to platformise the different steps of the ML cycle by designing and building infrastructure and tools that improve developer productivity, rapid iteration and experimentation.

Recurrent Themes:

* Offline Experimentation Frameworks (for ML and others) - unlocking the power of simulations in Search, building an offline evaluation framework in support of different products, platformazing LLM Evaluation tooling, supporting offline / online correlation.

* Near Real Time Infrastructure - from identifying product opportunities to finding commonalities and building a platform that enforces best practices and optimized solutions. Ex.: implementing an event source framework system and tooling for teams to compute materialized views without the need to understand stream processing or the technologies involved in it and instead focus on the business logic and aggregations we need to compute.

Experience working with surface teams (rather than platform / infra) to accelerate launching new features. An instance of this would be when I joined the “New Releases Feed '' and worked with UX design, frontend & backend engineers to architect & build a system from scratch & elevate it to production scale standards (caching, monitoring, alerting, deployment, scaling etc..).

At core services I worked on building an Open Location Platform Index for storing and accessing location-based data via service. I was responsible for design & implementation of the Volatile layer type of storage (fast, non-versioned reads and writes) & the Ingestion of Traffic in OLP. Previously drove the effort of design & implementation of a monitoring service for retrieving metrics from different components for billing purposes using akka Http.

Responsible for building & deploying systems for delivering traffic data through REST APIs. Worked on design and implementation of customized, real-time & scalable solutions, definition of requirements, POC, design and implementation.
