I contribute to building and maintaining tools that enable customers to easily manage and modify their insurance policies. I work with a variety of frontend and backend technologies, including TypeScript and React. In addition to my core development work, I am currently focusing on expanding my skills in Terraform and AWS to enhance our infrastructure automation and scalability.

I collaborated with a small team of seasoned engineers to design and develop new product features for a web-based application. I designed and implemented new frontend web pages using React / TypeScript, ensuring user-friendly and visually appealing interfaces. Additionally, I created GraphQL data models and implemented mutations/queries to manipulate and retrieve data efficiently. Utilizing full-stack development skills, I connected front-end components with back-end functionalities, ensuring seamless integration and smooth user experience. I developed and implemented numerous Slack channel integrations for automated notifications, enhancing team communication and productivity. Throughout the project, I conducted thorough code reviews, providing constructive feedback to team members to maintain code quality and consistency.

Starting as an intern, I dived headfirst into the world of web development, soaking up knowledge and skills as necessary. Under the guidance of seasoned mentors, I navigated through the complexities of frontend and backend development, learning everything from HTML and CSS to React and GraphQL. It was a transformative journey that provided me with experience as a developer for real-world applications.

Worked one-to-one with an experienced mentor on a capstone project for AWS Cognito. The scope of the project involved creating metrics for changes to customer information that were mapped to a Grafana dashboard I built. Alerts were also created to send the team notifications when errors/exceptions occurred in syncing between the main and failover regions.

I also had the opportunity to work on additional tickets in JIRA and participate in weekly scrum meetings such as stand-ups, grooming, and release planning.

During this experience I had exposure to Kotlin, Spring Boot, GitLab, JFrog, and AWS.

Sunstone Secure is a CISO-as-a-Service company that assists clients in receiving security audit certifications such as SOC2, HIPAA, FedRAMP, and more. During my internship I assisted the team in collecting information from the AWS website that would help define moderate controls for FedRAMP. I also helped the team by completing other small tasks through JIRA such as creating checklists that will help the Sunstone understand how their clients current security systems operate. This experience provided valuable insight into the professional software development world by allowing me to collaborate with seasoned software engineers and the company CSO.
