SymPOWEsium is POWE McGill’s annual flagship conference for women and gender-minority engineering students, offering a full day of hands-on workshops, panels, speakers, and networking with professionals to build community and foster personal and professional growth in engineering.
As the first-ever VP SymPOWEsium, I led a team of 4 coordinators and an organizing committee of 13 to scale the event’s impact and scope. Highlights from the 2025 edition include:
• Hosted the event at a larger, off-campus venue for the first time
• Our first ever research competition awarding $800 in prizes
• A new paid ticketing model, maintaining high engagement with 120+ attendees
• SymPOWEsium’s first title sponsor with $4,000+ in sponsorship
• Launched new workshops, including Intro to Machine Learning, 3D Printing and Soldering for Assistive Technology, and Lean Startup Essentials
• Worked within budget constraints while expanding offerings and improving event flow
This experience not only laid the foundation to continue to grow a sustainable, impactful annual event but also showcased my ability to lead large teams, work within constraints, and create meaningful programming for the next generation of engineers.
