As co-founding partner and software developer at Thinx, I have created two apps that have appeared in the iTunes App Store and another app currently in beta testing.

Cassini HD for iPad, released in September 2012, features a collection of more than 870 images of Saturn returned by NASA’s Cassini orbiter. The app allows for multiple ways to navigate the collection and to access information about the planet and its moons. Cassini HD reached the top 25 paid educational apps and has averaged 5 star ratings in the App Store. It was also written about and promoted by Brain Pickings, TUAW, and science writer Carl Zimmer, among others.

Thinx Drinks, released in March 2013, was an iPhone app designed to help attendees at the the 2013 South by Southwest Interactive and Music conference find free parties and events. With an extensive events database, the app featured maps to show users what events were taking place around them and to help guide them through the city. Users could also mark their favorite events and share their location through social media.

Our current app project, Art:101, is in beta testing with release scheduled for later in 2014. The app is designed as a robust study tool for art history students and serious enthusiasts. It features a reference library of more than 10,000 images and profiles of over 300 artists, user galleries, flashcards, a quiz, and tools for organizing notes and bookmarks. In addition, users are encouraged to customize the app for their own needs by adding artworks, updating information, etc.

Hix Photo/Somos — 
Created an asset and workflow management web application called Studiomatix for a stock photography studio in 2006, with support running through 2010. The application provided workflow management for photo shoots, from pre-production through post-production, and tracked models, locations, and legal releases. It was integrated with a website to allow models to enter their contact information and upload headshots, which streamlined talent scouting. The post-production team used the application to organize model and location releases with each photo shoot and to append metadata to each image. This streamlined their workflow and increased the accuracy of their submissions.

Primal Innovations — 
Created a variety of WordPress plugins and customizations, including a calendaring system for organizing and displaying event information. The admin system allowed event information to be entered and updated easily, while filtering menus allowed website users to customize the event list by location, date, and other criteria.
