I began as a volunteer for this restaurant, helping set it up during the summer of 2016. This was a start-up business started by my boss, Chef Peter Hamme, after his previous establishment, the Stone House, closed down due to the hurricanes that happened in the preceding years. Here, I assisted with the grand opening of Stone's Throw, a restaurant focused on fine riverfront dining and rich American Styled Cuisine.
I started working part time as a dishwasher, cooperating with both the front of the house and the line chefs, helping with both preparation and assisting wherever possible. Good teamwork and a diligent work ethic were essential skills used to allow a smooth workflow between my coworkers and ensure success for the restaurant. I learned how to handle stressful work environments, how to solve unexpected complications quickly and intuitively, and the use of heavy time management to sort out and finish my work effectively.
