As a consultant with Frontside I worked with several clients to implement solutions or improve existing products. I also contributed to in-house open source projects, helped with a blog, appeared on and hosted episodes of a podcast and gave several "lunch and learn" talks. My experience at Frontside introduced me to modern Javascript frameworks and single page application development. It strengthened my existing abilities Ruby on Rails, gave me further experience with API design for backend services, and gave me hands-on experience with Kubernetes and how to stand up a deployment infrastructure.
Frontside's highly collaborative atmosphere afforded me great opportunity to learn rapidly from experts in a short period of time, to serve as a mentor for junior developers and to explore and share my own interests and ideas. This atmosphere fostered in me a true passion for the art and craft of software.

I worked to resolve bugs and implement enhancements across the various components of our web application security solution.
These components included:
• A Perl monolith with a Backbone.js front-end
• A Ruby on Rails application
• An API layer for the Rails app using Sinatra
• A React/Redux UI serviced by a collection of microservices written in Go
• Various tooling to hold these components together
I was appointed as a representative of our "Microservices and API Guild". The group was tasked with exploring solutions for cross-group problems related to our microservices architecture.

I implemented features and fixed bugs in our legacy Perl/Backbone product and in our new Ruby on Rails stack. I spent a business quarter working with a small team on a proof-of-concept modern API using Ruby/Sinatra.
