As a software engineer at Duolingo, I work on longform content such as DuoRadio and Stories. I work on backend processing to generate episodes using Airflow for Python. In addition, I work as a fullstack engineer for internal website for non-engineers to use to manage deployments and content. I work with a designer to fully realize complicated UIs, as well as spec out and implement APIs for those UIs.

As an operations engineer at Duolingo, I worked to maintain and improve system architecture and infrastructure, especially relating to AWS. In my work, I constantly found ways to improve system architecture and automate tasks to improve efficiency.

Examples of my work:

* Spearheaded initiative to streamline the IAM elevated permission structure of our AWS organization

* Created interactive Jenkins job for engineers company-wide to use to upgrade their Terraform and promoted its use to engineers through several mediums

* Noticed use of an outdated AWS monitoring component, researched suitable replacements, decided on a solution, and implemented solution across entire multi-account AWS organization

* Switched to an external mounted data store for a critical internal tool to prevent storage issues

I was a software engineer co-op at Akamai. While working at Akamai, I took on projects to add API endpoints to the Java backend to facilitate the collection and visualization of internal data, as well as to manage data used in A/B testing. Creating these endpoints required me to add Elasticsearch support to one of the repositories and write queries in both Elasticsearch and SQL. While working on these projects, I had to work collaboratively with many members of the team for every step from the design document through testing.

In addition to my work on the Java backend, I also wrote several Python automation programs to assist the team during releases and deployment. In addition, I wrote a Python program to generate test data from files provided from Amazon S3 to be supplied to an existing test framework.

I took notes for computer science and math classes for students with disabilities at Northeastern University.
