Hired to improve the quality of reference designs and manage a small group of application engineers. Significant inbound and outbound touch with major ODMs. Developed a plan to increase the quality and competitiveness of reference designs. Significant time invested in getting up to speed on WiMax 802.16{d,e,m} and LTE at the RF, PHY, and MAC layers. Explored the use of MLOs (multi layer organic) substrates as a way to dramatically reduce ODM BOM costs through the elimination of chip packaging costs. Proposed the increased use of Linux and open source software to deliver Linux BDK to ODMs. Developed a plan for a high EIRP customer premises equipment (CPE) device for use in India. Evaluated many RF components for both TX and RX chain, including PAs, LNAs, filters, and switches.

Executive consultant to one of the world’s largest CCTV security firms. Designed a complete 802.11 wireless security system from the ground up. Worked on every aspect of 802.11 technology: custom access point design, wireless video encoder, radio selection, 802.11e HCF, I/O drivers, FCC compliance, Linux software, OS software selection, antennae & cable selection, and lightning protection. Developed the novel concept of a dual radio access point where each radio slot can be configured as either an access point or bridge, allowing a number of useful product variations from a single design. Provided technical as well as marketing leadership for this product line. Developed a relationship with Atheros, a leading supplier of 802.11 chip sets using personal contacts. Selected 802.11e HCF/WSM to solve 100% hidden node problem that fixed wireless nodes with high gain antennae encounter. Shepherded product line from concept through research, development, QA, manufacturing and shipment phases.
