Working to ensure high availability and low latency for Amazon websites

1) Build and maintain Tier-1 amazon product Autobahn to handle over 200 million requests/min of customer traffic, through a multi-CDN setup to ensure high availability of all Amazon retails and global Amazon websites.

2) Improve and simplify Autobahn to handle local and global failover, DDoS prevention, and ensure high routing throughput including highly efficient edge computation for the lowest latency.

3) Reduced on-call time consumed by over 60% and reduced mean-time-to-resolution by 35% by identifying pain points, improving standard-operating procedures, and automating the generation of insights for events. Reduced new on-call engineer onboarding time by 50%.

4) Implemented a unified SSL certificate management and monitoring tool to manage Autobahns certificates created and deployed across multiple CDNs, intermediate load balancers, and origins. This replaced the legacy half-manual solution which used to be responsible for one outage a year. Reduced cost by 95% from 1300 to 50 man-hours/year.

5) Mentor and guide software engineers including but not limited to college graduates. Provide them with proper coaching, guidance, support, and motivation to build them up to become highly productive members of the team.

Developer Division → Visual Studio for Mac

Developing the best developer tools and services for hundreds of thousands of customers

• Proposed, led and implemented Visual Studio for Mac Performance effort to make it the best IDE on macOS. Built the foundation of VSMac performance effort to prevent reinventing the wheel

• Implemented VSMac Performance SDK, infrastructure (IaaC), processes (best practices), tools (analyzers and visualizers) and standardized metrics to act as “north-star” to guide the product towards performance improvements.

• Built end-to-end internal data processing pipeline to capture performance data from VSMac running in internal labs, find trends over time and correlate it with customer telemetry. Use internal processed data to determine the quality of the release for the upcoming releases.

• Built developer tools enhancements like instrumentations, profiling, AA and AB comparer etc to aid in rapid prototyping of performance fixes.

• Maintain and improve Visual Studio for Mac Updater service.

Xamarin Studio: Primary responsibility - Integration, Release and Quality

* Coordinate all major and minor releases including Servicing Releases for Xamarin Studio

* Coordination includes, selecting builds, assessing the quality, sending all the emails for sign-offs and getting the release notes for publishing.

* Mentor and coordinate with our vendors to make an informed decision to publish the selected builds.

Installer for Tizen Mobile OS: Worked on the installer used for Tizen Mobile OS to be used by PC and IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) verticals of Tizen Group. Finished features which are needed for making the installer UEFI capable, enabled the installer to use both liveusb and raw OS images for installing.

Tizen Workflow Mock: Development of a tool to monitor and debug the problems faced in the infrastructure used for Tizen OS Development. This enhances the infrastructure monitoring capabilities over nagios which cannot detect problems caused by missing/faulty configuration of servers, authorization issues and timeout problems.
