Synthego's mission is to turn biology into an information science by enabling automated genome engineering at scale. As a software engineer, I collaborated with engineers and scientists across the organization to deliver systems that improved the quality, efficiency and automation of our production laboratories.

Some examples of projects I lead:

• Design and implementation of core microservices using Python and gRPC, e.g. a real-time notication service guaranteeing at least-once, in-order delivery of asynchronous events to third party APIs.

• Migrating the core Django monolith, responsible for coordinating all activity in our robotic laboratories, from our on premises data center to the cloud (AWS EC2 and RDS).

• Hardening operation of our backend services, including: automated provisioning and deployment, centralized logging, instrumentation (metrics, distributed tracing), and real-time monitoring and alerting.

SignalFx is a highly available, streaming time series processing engine that ingests, stores, and analyzes billions of datapoints per day with end-to-end latency of a few seconds. Some of my contributions included:

• Owning development and operation of the Kafka-based message bus supporting streaming data pipelines

• Design and implementation of public-facing RESTful APIs for features like attribute-based access control and streaming dashboards and data visualizations.

• leading development of a new distributed tracing product
