Co-led the conceptual design and product development of Meta’s new data center design which provided efficient and simple solutions to its fast-growing AI/ML business. This design provided fungibility for traditional user-facing workloads as well as online and offline AI training. Key aspects of the design were providing liquid cooling support, enabling higher rack density, and optimizing cost and schedule to bring Meta’s IDC program into industry parity. The first data centers are now coming online: https://www.facebook.com/KunaDataCenter/posts/pfbid02h48j5wVu18RqdniE6m5UAvFfnGgBmZEDaLYfoyFcEak1nPfQZp8H8csR1f4fZmA2l
Researched and codified changes to Meta’s standards and specifications to drive adoption of Meta’s Net Zero corporate obligations:
Envisioned and instituted a low carbon concrete pilot program across our data center sites with the existing ready-mix suppliers and flatwork installers that significantly reduced our embodied carbon emissions while maintaining cost and schedule parity. https://sustainability.atmeta.com/blog/2024/12/19/advancing-low-carbon-concrete-in-our-data-centers/
Modified our basis of design to include mass timber primary structure in select buildings, thereby reducing our embodied carbon footprint. Led the connection engineering and construction of physical mockups in our R&D lab to demonstrate the technical viability of implementing this further program-wide. https://sustainability.atmeta.com/blog/2025/07/31/meta-pilots-mass-timber-for-more-sustainable-data-center-construction/
