To use my knowledge, skills, and passion for Android development to create applications that will be a joy for users to install and use on a daily basis.
Experience

2022 — 2022
2022 — 2022
• Improve build times by more than 50% in worse case scenarios. Leverage Gradle Enterprise to test and measure that changes are making a positive impact. Fix gradle cache invalidation issues and set up a remote cache server. Reduce average build time from 20 to 14 minutes.
• Modernize our codebase by defining architecture and modularization guidelines. Adopt Airbnb Mavericks and a flatter dependency hierarchy for modules. Work with engineers to refactor into new standards.
• Collaborate with Google to implement Health Connect into the WW Android app. Provide Google with feedback on early SDK releases and their documentation.
• Update existing backend microservice (Node.js) to process Health Connect data.
2018 — 2022
• Grew, mentored, and led a distributed team of 12 Android engineers to deliver for multiple product teams. The WW Android team is 35 engineers.
• Conducted weekly 1 on 1’s, goal setting, and yearly performance reviews with direct reports. Mentor and coach them on technical and non-technical skills to level up and be promoted.
• Collaborated with Product, Design, and Engineers to deliver on various initiatives such as myWW and myWW+ Food Programs, WellnessWins, Meal Planner, What’s in Your Fridge, Virtual Workshops, Discover Recipes V2, and partnerships with HeadSpace, Aaptiv, FitOn. Rebrand from Weight Watchers to WW.
• Lead the “Mobile Innovation” team for Android by understanding multiple product team needs so engineers can architect and build reusable components and features such as analytics, experiment testing (a/b), caching, error logging, UI/Layouts, etc. Open source Roxie architecture used for developing features. (https://github.com/WW-Tech/roxie)
• Decreased time to release from 2-3 days to less than 1 day and increased test coverage from 15% to over 50%. Implement CI workflows and automated checks to achieve these improvements.
• Achieved crash-free rate of 99.8% through new monitoring process and escalated with product and engineers when a release has an issue(s). On call via PagerDuty for any production issues to quickly identify and resolve issues.
• Educated engineers and QA on how to measure app performance using HWUI, GPU overdraw, and other tools. Use Firebase Performance to identify slow endpoints and UI. Work with Product, Engineers, and QA to prioritize and fix problematic areas. Fix a few performance issues myself to demonstrate tools and workflow.
• Collaborated with Google to integrate Google Assistant and in-app purchases and provide Google feedback on the integration experience.
• Performed code reviews for various features and provided feedback to engineers.
2015 — 2018
2015 — 2018
• Rewrote the WW Android app from scratch with 5 teammates in a 2 month period for the SmartPoints food program launch in 2015.
• Delivered features such as Discover Recipes, Food/Recipe/Meal tracking, Recipe/Meal builder, Track Yesterday, Food Search, Food Calculator, Barcode Scanner, MyDay.
• Researched and introduced new patterns and standards such as MVP and MVVM architectures, Dagger, RxJava, Repository, etc.
• A top 3 winner in each WW hackathon. Received business support to release FitBreak for Android to production, was iOS only app previously.
