For this client, we were tasked with performing a comprehensive assessment of a Snowplow Analytics pipeline in need of an upgrade. The client also explained that performing updates and changes were tedious and error prone. The pipeline was mission critical as it supported an active revenue stream for the client. The primary goal for our client was to be able to deploy a Snowplow pipeline easily, securely and with minimal manual intervention.

Upon completion of the assessment, we found there was a significant opportunity to implement a DevOps pipeline to deploy Snowplow, replacing an earlier pipeline that was not stable and didn't follow best practices for DevOps and Snowplow. There was also significant code duplication. Our recommendation was an architecture that used AWS CodePipeline, Bitbucket and Terraform that would deploy various AWS infrastructure such as Redshift databases, EC2 instances, Lambda functions, Kinesis streams and SQS queues. We also applied our expertise in Snowplow Analytics to configure it for reliability, performance and scalability to more than 10k transactions per second.

We exceeded our clients goals by not only providing a solution that was secure, easy to deploy and maintainable, but we also developed comprehensive documentation and provided multiple training sessions for the DevOps and Analytics team so they can operate and maintain the pipeline for the foreseeable future.
