• I work closely with our internal NoSQL (ZippyDB) DB team to enable them to migrate from local server storage to dis-aggregated storage that our team offers. The end goal is to de-couple compute and storage to un-lock huge efficiency wins/operational simplicity. My responsibility entails analyzing customer workload, capacity projections, identify major gaps/opportunity in E2E architecture, work with customer to come up with migration plans and milestones, guide group of team members to land improvements, deliver requirements to partner teams early on and keep track of things (Status reports, sync up meetings etc.) apart from handling emergency prod situations.
• Apart from this I also worked on improving reliability and performance of our distributed services. Some of my major contributions were reducing E2E Read IO P99 latencies by 5X, improving read reliability under thundering herd restart of clients, creating framework for continuous adaptive failure injection in production setup, stress infra improvements etc.
• On non-technical side, I was 3rd team member and helped team grew to 15 engineers within 2 years. I conduct interviews on regular basis, work with interested engineers to familiarize them with team’s problem space and culture. I am also an acting team lead for 3 people on the team. I am also deeply involved with team’s road map planning and setting up long term directions.
