The TAVtech Global Fellowship is a non-profit, computer programming and entrepreneurship program that takes place in Tel Aviv. Selected Fellows are student entrepreneurs from top universities who come from diverse academic backgrounds and demonstrate a bias for impact.
In the five-week bootcamp, Fellows are exposed to a crash course in impactful skills including databases, data querying, scripting languages (front-end & back-end), and mobile development. Meanwhile, Fellows meet with Israel’s top entrepreneurs, Venture Capitalists, and technologists, and interact with Israeli students from top universities such as IDC Herzliya, Technion, and Hebrew University. The fellowship culminates in a two-day Hackathon, where Fellows design and pitch their own businesses.
Accomplishments:
• Hackathon Project: Emojifier: A keyboard app for iOS that allows users to create their own Emojis.
• Lecture given on basic Computer Architecture, Data Structures and Recursion.
• TA: Assisted and tutored fellows throughout the JavaScript portion of the Fellowship.
• Learned the basics of big data management using programming tools and languages such as Hadoop, Apache Pig, Amazon Web Services EMR, and AsterixDB. Learned how to set up master and slave data nodes.
• Learned Python and used API’s such as Dropbox, Google Apps, OpenPyXl, Scikit-learn,
• Built a web application using JavaScript and Instagram's API.
• Exposed to short courses in Swift development environment and Financial Programming.
