Since 2022, chairing the Backend Advisory Board. The group is responsible for aligning Spotify's global backend engineering discipline, e.g. by providing, sharing and updating best practices around architecture, technology, tooling, quality and reliability.

Since 2020, member of IMOC - Spotify's global incident manager on-call rotation. This group facilitates mitigation of large scale, global incidents.

Since 2020, founding member of Spotify's incident analysis team. The group writes reports shared with the engineering community to increase our collective ability to learn from incidents.

Advanced the embedded C playback stack to a new cloud based implementation. Led a multi team project to improve end to end testing of all cloud based playback stacks.

Architecture and technical implementation of the playback stack for Web based devices including Web Browsers, TVs and Google Chromecast.

The Java and C++ based backend at peak served more than 50k RPS backed by Cassandra.

Designed, prototyped and built the video transcoding and delivery infrastructure used to power Spotify's video offering using technologies such as Cassandra, RabbitMQ, Kafka and x264/ffmpeg. Also heavily involved in the selection process and implementation of DRM technologies for video playback.

Worked as part of a team with a number of different projects. I added support for decoding high bit depth H.264 streams and related x86 SIMD assembly optimizations to the CoreAVC decoder. Other tasks included writing a test framework with unit/regression tests and debugging various problems with the decoder library on Linux and Windows.
