Electrical Hardware design and Controls Programming for UV and Ozone Water disinfection systems for Municipal and industrial applications
Implementation: RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500, RSLinx, Factory Talk View Studio, SolidworksEE, Windows, MS Office (Excel, Word)
• Analyzed project specifications, wrote lists of exceptions and clarifications, worked on developing electrical power and controls drawings for projects such as single line drawing, control architecture drawing, electrical schematic drawing, panel layout drawings and field loop drawings.
• Drew up lists of materials and lists of nameplates for power and control panels per the electrical design, compiled cut sheets for various components in the panels, Worked on heat load calculations for sizing A/Cs for control panels and power load calculations for sizing UPS for the control panels.
• Designed control systems using various communication protocols such as Ethernet (AB Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP/IP, GE TCP/IP), Devicenet, Profibus and Modbus Plus.
• Designed control systems using different PLC manufacturers such as Allen Bradley, Modicon/ Schneider, Siemens and GE PLCs.
• Developed PLC programs for different Allen Bradley PLC lines (ControlLogix/ CompactLogix/ Micrologix/ SLC) utilizing advanced programming methods utilizing user defined datatypes, indirect addressing and AOIs.
• Worked on developing graphics for AB Panelview Plus HMIs using Factory talk View Studio using parameter lists to develop real time dynamic screens.
• Was actively involved in bench testing the program logic and factory testing of equipment prior to the equipment being shipped to the job site.
• Provided field service support using remote access capability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and program related issues at job sites during site acceptance testing, startups and service visits.
2005 — 2008
Development of Controls for Tray Mail Sorting Conveyor Systems for Various USPS Mail Processing and Distribution Centers
Implementation: RSNetWorx for DeviceNet, RSLogix 5000, RSLinx, GE Cimplicity , Windows, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Worked as a part of the engineering and controls team on various conveyor system installation and upgrade projects at different United States Postal Service (USPS) Mail Processing and Distribution Centers in locations such as Memphis-TN, Portland-OR, Kearny-NJ, Raleigh-NC and Southern MD.
• Developed RSLogix 5000 program for interfacing with the in-feed conveyor of the ABB robotics containerization system and providing it with zip code information from the barcode scanner in the required format and to control diverters that direct mail flow in a tray mail system.
• Developed Functional Block Programs for 1799-ZCIOV Embedded I/O modules for DeviceNet using RSNetWorx for DeviceNet. These modules were used for zone control of individual conveyor sections.
• Identified electrical wiring faults, addressing faults and network faults in DeviceNet networks and directed electricians to fix them.
• Developed multi-screen HMI for real time status and control of tray mail and bulk mail conveyor systems using GE Cimplicity.
• Actively participated in In-house Acceptance Tests (IHAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT). Made formal presentations/ demonstrations to clients during acceptance tests.
• Provided operators training and maintenance training to client. Prepared HMI and Engineering manuals and troubleshooting guides for the system.
• Resolved issues and provided on-site and on-phone support to clients during the testing period.
