As the subject matter expert on the electronic health record (EHR) integration team, I designed and implemented applications to support the core business operations at Invitae, making genetic test orders and reports easier to work with in EHRs for healthcare providers, and driving up our business volume. By following the latest HL7 standards, I led an effort in taking one of the biggest challenges in healthcare IT: interoperability. I co-designed and implemented an application to support the ordering, scheduling, and reporting integrations between Invitae's LIMS and customer EHR systems, using the HL7 standard.
On the Data Engineering team, I led the Patient360 project, building ELT pipelines that ingest and aggregate patient data from various sources into Snowflake. I designed and built a patient-centric data warehouse based on a modified version of the OMOP data model, enabling analysts and data scientists to gain insights and derive values from data.
On the Customer Experience team, I designed and developed cloud native applications to provide clinical decision support to health care providers, including cancer risk assessments and genetic test eligibility.
I led a cross-team project to replace static lab order forms with dynamically rendered forms using FHIR resources, improving the user experience, data consistency, and interoperability.

As the tech lead, I led a small team of developers building a web application connecting healthcare payers with providers, extending the power of healthcare information exchange (HIE) platform to provide clinical information to insurance companies, so they can better manage financial risks and proactively create programs for high-cost members. This application’s back end was built with Java, Spring, and JPA/Hibernate, and the front end was written with Angular.

Developed several data-driven single-page web applications that streamlined Epic’s internal workflows, with > 50% savings in time. The features of these applications include system monitoring, capacity planning, task management, reporting, and documentation. The technologies used in the back end are C#, ASP.NET, Entity Framework, SQL Server. The front end is developed with KnockoutJS.
Peer reviewed other developers’ code and designs, and introduced TypeScript as the primary client-side programming language to the internal projects team.
Worked on a small team to develop and maintain a test automation tool used by the systems quality assurance team for integrated testing, which reduced their QA time by fivefold. This is a Windows desktop application built with WPF.
Performed a leading role in the design, install and maintenance of electronic health record (EHR) systems at several large healthcare organizations from implementation to go-live.
Worked directly with healthcare organizations’ database and system admins to build, optimize, and troubleshoot Caché database and Epic application issues, and solved a wide range of engineering problems.
Epic certifications: EpicCare Ambulatory, Care Everywhere, Caché database.
