As a returning intern to the Search Data Platform Team (SDP), I was tasked with two projects spanning a variety of backend applications and frameworks that needed implementation and/or improvement. The first project consisted of migrating a backend python search application into a Kubernetes cluster environment, including Gitlab CI pipeline configuration to allow for continuous integration and deployment. SDP till this point had only used GoCD pipelines for deployment, and no applications in production were deployed in docker containers. The second project revolved around modifying an existing application that utilized a batch process flow to a Kafka stream process, improving the relevancy and accuracy of clickstream data. Many applications were modified to satisfy the project requirements, and eventually both projects were deployed into production and are currently being maintained by the rest of the team.
