I lead Retail Foundations, the platform layer powering Shopify Point of Sale. Every POS feature team builds on what my organization ships, serving hundreds of thousands of merchant storefronts worldwide.

Four teams, four engineering managers, 30+ engineers:

• App Platform: Runtime, framework, and design system that every POS feature builds on

• Extensions: Drives internal and third-party adoption of the POS extensibility layer

• Infrastructure & Services: Device-edge data, sync, and backend services

• Developer Tooling: CI/CD pipelines, observability, and the workflows that shape the POS engineering experience

POS runs on a multi-platform client stack, React Native with Kotlin Multiplatform, Swift, and Rust layers across iOS, iPad, Android, and first-party hardware.

I own and drive delivery of the multi-quarter platform roadmap, define platform KPIs across reliability, performance, and developer productivity, and work in trifecta with product and design to translate strategic priorities into executable milestones. I set the operating rhythm for high-velocity delivery paired with reliability and safety, and lead within Shopify's AI-first culture, raising my teams' baseline of AI-assisted development.

Promoted to Senior and to manager of managers: 3 engineering managers and 25 engineers across the Messaging org.

Engineering lead for Shopify Inbox, the merchant messaging product unifying customer conversations across the mobile and web app, online store chat widget, and Messaging API.

Set multi-quarter engineering strategy in trifecta with senior product and design partners; owned the technical roadmap across services and first-party integrations. Hired and developed senior and staff engineers; raised the bar on craft, reliability, and operating rhythm.

Transitioned from individual contributor to engineering manager; led the engineering team as it grew from Shopify Ping into the broader Messaging product area.

Owned full-stack engineering across backend APIs, the online store chat widget, and the merchant React Native app for iOS, Android, and web. Partnered with product and design counterparts to set direction for the Messaging product area. Coached engineers across career stages; invested heavily in engineering culture and career development.

Team lead on Shopify Ping, a free mobile app unifying customer conversations, marketing, and business tools for Shopify merchants. Coached and grew the team; set technical direction and mentored ICs across career stages.

Led a major redesign of the iOS app - including Auto Layout modernization across the entire codebase - shipped in August 2017. Served as product manager during resourcing constraints. Cut build times by 33% by migrating dependencies from CocoaPods to Carthage.
