Sandbox is Northeastern's student-led software consultancy. We deploy teams of students to build software that benefits Northeastern's academic researchers, students, and faculty.
I worked directly with Sandbox members, Northeastern staff, and researchers to pave the way for Sandbox to grow and expand, both in membership and breadth of work. With a focus on branding, identity, and outreach, I ensured that Sandbox is consistently adapting to feedback and trying out new ideas. I helped establish the culture that will lead Sandbox on to be an important part of many students' college experiences in the future.
Some tangible accomplishments:
• Grew the organization from 3 to 40 members, 1 to 7 software projects
• Secured school-external funding for launch year
• Received Jelly Incubation Fund grant for second year
• Partnered with AWS to provide credits to software projects at Northeastern
• Led two software projects across two separate semesters, each with a team of 4 developers, for Northeastern researchers
• Organized an event which educated over 80 students on how to get started with personal coding projects
• Set up and presented to an advisory board to ensure that the organization stays around after the founding group graduates
