Tech lead for Pet Health Storefront team owning path to purchase UX for Chewy’s industry-leading Pet Pharmacy and Veterinary Diet businesses.
Led planning & development for Chewy Practice Hub’s “Buy from Your Vet” offering, allowing customers to buy prescription medications & food directly from their clinic as a seller listed on Chewy.com. Designed & implemented multiple large-scale architectural iterations as the feature matured through real-world user testing, including moving core UI rendering to SSR with a WCAG-compliant custom component, reducing load time by >3 seconds per page load in production.
Rebuilt large chunks of Chewy.com’s backend Product Display, Cart, and Checkout pages to abstract implementation details via proper dependency injection, then wrote comprehensive unit tests, increasing test coverage by >60x.
Worked closely with TPM and SDM to plan projects well in advance, identify implementation plans, and call out issues early. Ran biweekly grooming and wrote epics and tickets for teammates to pick up, while routinely owning the most complex pieces. Interviewed frontend and backend candidates regularly (2–3 per week) and helped develop question banks & leveling standards for the org.
Stack: Containerized monorepo UI applications and services running multiregion active/active in AWS ECS Fargate and administered with Terraform. Vue frontend apps using VueX, Webpack, Sass and tested with Jest and vue-test-utils. Served by Kotlin Spring Boot, Stripes, and Jersey applications powering public/private REST and gRPC APIs and SSR for core Chewy.com pages. Consumed REST microservices via OpenAPI codegen, OkHttp, Retrofit, OAuth2 and gRPC. Testing in JUnit 5 and Mockk.

Developed a new web app delivering the single most-requested product by Toast’s restaurant customers — enabling restaurant managers to pool and equitably redistribute workers’ tips according to a configurable policy.
Contributed to design, implementation, testing, and code review at all levels of Toast’s single-page app stack, working closely with UX, PM, and QA from planning through production deployment.
Helped bring tip pooling from early alpha to nearly feature-complete through a multi-stage preview program with live restaurant customer feedback.
Stack: React front-end apps backed by RESTful Dropwizard microservices in Java and Amazon DynamoDB, plus expansive Kotlin unit and integration tests. Also leveraged: PostgreSQL, Guice, Swagger, JUnit, Play, Yarn.

Owned platform architecture, product development, technical review, deployment, and DevOps (alongside CTO) for Composable’s patented web-based enterprise data orchestration platform.
Designed and implemented high-performance, multithreaded data pipelines enabling users to move, process, analyze, and visualize massive datasets across dozens of data store technologies and third-party APIs.
Led a 2-engineer team responsible for improving usability through a complete redesign of Composable’s user interface, reducing churn and increasing customer engagement.
Routinely bootstrapped automation and machine learning pipelines with dedicated web apps for 2–3 month pilot programs at prospective clients. Transitioned these into production systems which saved clients millions of dollars per year in operating costs over their previous workflows.
Replaced ETL systems in client environments with fully-automated Composable workflows, often in a forward-deployed setting.
Managed and built secure systems dealing with HIPAA-governed Protected Health Information and Personally Identifiable Information.
Stack: .NET back-end infrastructure in C# backed by SQL Server and Entity Framework. AngularJS single-page apps written in TypeScript and Sass. Also leveraged: WCF, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Gulp, NuGet, ASP.NET.
