• Member of Technical Leadership Team, providing direction in establishing requirements, standards for design, technology selection, implementation and process improvement across the application platform.
• Led medium-size team of Java developers and QA staff
• Rehabilitated, enhanced and maintained critical applications (Comprehensive logging framework overhaul, tuning garbage collection, elimination of long-standing memory leaks and thread leaks resulting in reduced operational overhead and greatly increased uptime, improved CORBA error handling and diagnostic capabilities, addition of JMX monitoring and configuration)
• Designed 2nd generation middle-tier architecture with a focus on stateless operation and clustered applications
• Piloted use of agile methodology (Scrum), resulting in unprecedented visibility into progress and predictability in the release process
• Instrumental in the conversion of an aging, ad hoc build and release infrastructure to a system based on git, maven and continuous integration processes
• Provided 24 / 7 second tier support to Operational Team
• Mentored junior team members
2007 — 2008
Greater New York City Area
• Rehabilitated existing Java / TIBCO RV applications codebase used to collect and publish real-time order and execution data throughout the firm: Researched / identified all dependencies and aligned with Lehman’s equities framework releases. Upgraded, maintained and supported 30+ existing real-time order and execution application instances. Overall effort resulted in a ten-fold decrease in the internal latency of the application and greatly enhanced maintainability.
• Co-designed and implemented 2nd generation real-time application framework. Assumed project leadership and delivery responsibilities. Automated build / packaging of applications in-line with emerging firm standards using IBM BuildForge and HP OpsWare.
2002 — 2007
2002 — 2007
• Co-architected, designed and implemented a JMX-based service framework for ESM Integrator using JBoss 3.2.x.
• Designed and implemented a data transformation engine based on the Spring Framework, using Spring’s inversion of control and aspect-oriented programming features.
• Integrated ESM Integrator alerting mechanism with JBoss JMX / SNMP Adapter to generate SNMP Traps for in-house use of CA Unicenter NSM / Service Desk and BMC Patrol.
• Architected, designed, implemented and maintained paging system for the existing ESM Integrator Remote Service.
• Implemented continuous integration process using CruiseControl for automation of builds and unit-test execution.
• Responsible for application profiling, troubleshooting, debugging and performance tuning during release candidate build / QA cycles.
• Co-designed processes for interviewing and evaluating engineering candidates, technical employee career planning and performance evaluations.
2001 — 2002
2001 — 2002
• Collaborated with a team of architects providing technical direction in: establishing requirements, standards for design, implementation and testing of HP's J2EE Application Server (HP-AS).
• Co-designed and implemented the HP-AS Configuration Console for the HPAS 8.0 release.
• Designed, implemented and delivered Internationalization Trail Map: an application illustrating I18n concepts and best practices for Java and J2EE developers for the HP-AS 8.0 release.
• Established guidelines and best practices for Java Internationalization across HP Middleware product teams. Wrote and presented I18n Fundamentals course to engineering staff.
• Co-authored Internationalization Requirements for Servlet Containers, published on Developer.com in May 2002.
