Design and implement socially responsive curricula and lesson plans that are inquiry-driven and foster hands-on art-making activities in support of students’ self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and communication skills.
Conduct pre and post teaching assessments.
Developed and designed classes for middle school male students (ages 11-15) that integrate social justice, songwriting, and music production, as well as mental health and storytelling oral histories engaging the work of bell hooks, who had just recently passed away. In the wake of Black Lives Matter and the COVID-19 pandemic, schools searched for programs that center Social Emotional Learning (S.E.L.) My program addressed this need while utilizing the new cultural demand of podcasting as a means to intimately connect with and build community.
Coordinate weekly meetings with the school principal and Apollo’s director of education to discuss learning goals, worksite challenges, and the progress of students.
Facilitate student and residency evaluations and assessments to measure the efficacy of our in-school workshops.
Attend professional development training to keep current and knowledgeable of best pedagogical practices.
