• Implemented new workflow for an asset transfer API that sells buy now, pay later (BNPL) loans receivables to external entity.

• Mentored our 2024 summer intern to design a low-latency event publishing mechanism.

• Implemented a new API that updates the database table of our CQRS read model.

• Caught a memory leak bug in our iOS mobile app.

Built a React web app for collecting sentence alignment annotations by crowdsourcing with Amazon MTurk. The React app was open-sourced on lab’s GitHub page with documentation when the research was published in 2019 EMNLP conference.

Developed a rule-based medical event extractor system using context-free grammar for Chinese language.

Proposed to improve Chinese word embeddings using radicals (graphical sub-character units in Chinese that carry semantic information) by treating each character as an image and extracting its visual features. Published a 8-page paper in EMNLP 2017 with open-source code and evaluation dataset.
