2022 — Now
Austin, Texas, United States
Situation:
• Hired as a contract developer but was converted to full-time employee by the Release Checklist team to implement new features and maintain existing code and procedures.
• The team was transitioned to SDLC Analytics where our focus was developing metric dashboards to show common development metrics such as DORA (Deployment Frequency, cycle time, Change failure rate, MTTR), SPACE, etc.
• The team was transitioned to the environment orchestration space where the focus was rebuilding a test environment team that was down to 3 full time members.
Tasks:
• Architect, implement, and maintain features using Golang, Java, Google Cloud Services, and BigQuery for the master test environment
• Maintain the Agile processes, Scrum ceremonies, and managing the JIRA story/task backlog
• Lead the AI development effort for the group
• Interview prospective candidates for a variety of roles
• Create data pipelines using golang & GCP serverless apps
• Performing data analysis using PowerBI and Jupyter Notebooks (Python)
Actions:
• Learn the master test environment. Pick up the task of migrating an existing Java app from Mesos to GKE using Docker and drive it to completion
• Mentored and coached a junior developer in implementing an AI MCP server for the team
• Design and drive the implementation of data pipelines (greenfield implementation) that allowed the team to calculate DORA metrics and provide a real-time dashboard for senior leadership
Results:
• Increase the availability of the master test environment to 99.9% which increased customer satisfaction and improved production code quality since this environment was required for testing production code before release.
• MCP server was released which provided easy access to test environment commands and status
• DORA dashboard was released and the team worked on improving the data pipeline and data quality.
• Authored articles on the various metrics, how they were calculated, and how to interpret team results.
