Instagram Notifications Experience

• Working on Instagram notifications on iOS, including push, in-app banners, DM notifications, and permission upsells. Focused on reliability, relevance, and reachability.

• Defined and measured iOS notification client reliability — built a new metric and data pipeline with DS/DE, established baselines across iOS and Android. Audited the full iOS push handling flow and built a reliability roadmap. Refactored the Notification Service Extension, reducing crashes by 50% and processing time by 65%.

• Go-to iOS engineer for the notifications org, supporting cross-team projects with Friending, Wearable, and others. Root-caused multiple production SEVs. Built internal tooling and a simplified experiment review program widely used by teammates.

• Tech led push tray ranking optimization through multiple design iterations to a shipped version that moved US DAU. Owned notification reachability upsells, driving experiments to improve push permission opt-in rates.

Work on TikTok Creative tool performance improvement, mainly focus on camera first frame, effect& music loading performance improvement.

Group Stories (0.5 year):

• Led performance improvements for group stories, including instrumentation, dashboard setup, and metric tracking.

• Implemented the optimistic posting feature for group stories on iOS, migrating to a newer platform for substantial performance gains.

Facebook Dating (4 years):

• Managed PREQ (Performance, Reliability, Efficiency, Quality) for the dating product, optimizing surface loading performance. Enhanced data fetching monitoring and reduced server CPU usage by eliminating redundant data fetches.

• Led the development of the dating messaging framework, assessing multiple options, continuously adopting newer and better frameworks, and overseeing migrations.

• Architected the video date feature, resolving issues involving multiple teams, identity, and RTC infrastructure.

• Led the iOS side of the dating product as a mobile platform lead, ensuring codebase quality and driving migrations to new client infrastructure.

• Facilitated the React Native migration for dating products to streamline UI rendering across platforms, reducing eng resource demands and enabling faster feature iterations.

Facebook Profile/Timeline (1.5 years):

• Developed "Did You Know" (DYK) feature for posting questions and collecting fun fact answers from friends.
