Leading the communication team for the Bolivia project, which includes delegating tasks, contacting local governments, NGOs, and community members, as well as translating documents, letters and manuals from Spanish to English and vise versa. Performed pre and post-trip inspections, as well as other safety inspections throughout the day. Was responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a heavy-duty public transit bus carrying on average of 50 customers per hour per vehicle. As a member of a large team working collaboratively in person and over the radio, I memorized all policies, accident and incident procedures, bus routes, and timed and announced stops.
Young Community Developers partnered with the San Francisco Department of Public Utilities and various engineering firms in the Bay Area for this internship. In the internship, I focused on environmental justice projects in the Bayview/Hunters Point neighborhood in San Francisco. With other interns, we proposed various solutions to waste, poor air quality and food deserts in the area. I also had a mentor at HDR who helped me interview various colleagues to learn what a engineer does. With HDR, I, along with other inters, wrote a mock proposal for a waste stabilization pond.
